LEWIS (LOS), DAVID

(b. 1909)
   Canadian political leader, of Polish origin. His parents immigrated to Canada from Poland when he was 12. He was a Rhodes Scholar and studied at Oxford University. He practised law in Toronto and later became secretary of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation. He subsequently was a member of parliament, becoming leader of the New Democratic Party.
