EGER, SAMUEL LEVIN BEN JUDAH LEIB

(1769-1842)
   German talmudist. He was born in Halberstadt and served as rabbi of Braunschweig. An opponent of the Reform movement, he insisted on the retention of Hebrew in prayer. He wrote talmudic novellae, homiletic discourses and responsa.
